100 days till Halloween!

100 days till Halloween!

It’s not too late to start your own Jack-o-lanterns!

Summer is flying by and it will be fall in no time, but it’s not to late to start your own pumpkin patch for homegrown fall fun.

Common pumpkin varieties take 90-110 days from planting to maturity. So grab some seeds and start a few plants!

They need a sunny spot (6-9 hours of full sun). Water regularly, but don’t leave in sitting water and try to keep water off foliage, as they can get mildewy. Be sure to be aware of your first frost date, check that here. Most late season harvest plants can take a slight frost, but it’s best to cover plants at any threat of frost to get full growth from your plants.

Some other plants that can still be planted for fall decorations are sunflowers (80-120 days to maturity) and Indian Corn (100-115 days to maturity)

Happy Growing!
